VETERANS MEMORIAL COMMITTEE

Established by resolution dated June 14, 2005 and amended February 9, 2010

Mission Statement

To erect and permanently maintain the Veteran’s Memorial to be located in front of the

Byron Town Hall. The Veteran’s Memorial is to be erected to honor all Byron Township

veterans who have ever served in the United States armed forces, past, present, and future.

It is also the committee’s goal to honor all future veterans residing in the township of

Byron, Wisconsin by adding their names to the Memorial and to collect and preserve

archival records related to these individuals

Meetings

Usually held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Byron Town

Hall. - Check Town of Byron web-site for any change in date or time of the

meetings. All meeting are opened to the public. Next meeting

February 3, 2010

Events

Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner

at the Lomira Legion hall, from 4:00 p.m. 7:30 p.m. - Dinner tickets will be available from

committee members and also at the door.

Veterans Memorial Fund-Raiser

Committee members will be selling Raffle Tickets – Only 250 Tickets will be sold for $10.00

each with 50% returned as cash prizes. – Funds raised will only be used for maintenance of the

Memorial, and to place additional names on the Memorial in the future. Contact members of the

committee for tickets.

Memorial Day observance

American Legion Post of Lomira, And the Oakfield VFW Post to honor all who gave their

lives for their country.

If anyone knows of a veteran, who lives or has lived or is buried in the Town of Byron,

whose name is not on the Memorial, please let a member of the committee know

so that none who served in the military is forgotten.
