VETERANS MEMORIAL COMMITTEE

Established by Resolution – June 14, 2005

 

MISSIONSTATEMENT

 

To erect and permanently maintain the Veteran’s Memorial to be located in front of the ByronTown Hall. The Veteran’s Memorial is to be erected to honor all ByronTownshipveterans who have ever served in the United Statesarmed forces, past, present and future, and all veterans buried in cemeteries within the Town of Byron, by placing their names upon this memorial. It is also the committee’s goal to collect and preserve archival records related to these individuals.

MEETINGS

 

Meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.at the ByronTown Hall– CheckTownweb-site for any changes in date or time for these meetings. All meeting are open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.

 

EVENTS

 

Memorial Day Observance  9:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon at the Memorial – American Legion Bintzler – Whaeler Post of Lomira and Oakfield VFW post, Firing Squad and Color Guard - To honor all who gave their life for their country.

 

Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner and Raffle – At the Lomira Legion Hall in Lomira on St. Patrick’s Day March 17th from 4:00 p.m.to 7:30 p.m.– Raffle Tickets and Dinner Tickets will be available from committee members after December 15.

 

NAMES FOR MEMORIAL

 

If anyone knows of a veteran, who lives or has lived or is buried in the Town of Byron whose name is not on the Memorial, please complete a form and submit it to a committee member, so that none who served in the military is forgotten. The form is available on this web-site under “forms” by clicking on “Vet’s Form”.
